Message of the Sonfish

The "SonfishTM"

Many people will do a double take when they first see the Sonfish; our version of the Jesus Fish. Our high quality emblem has been called the coolest Jesus Fish on the market and can be displayed on cars and many other surfaces such as boats, RV's, trailer, etc. The Sonfish is designed wearing sunglasses to give it a contemporary look. We can acknowledge, as Christians, that we live in a modern and sinful world. The Sonfish reminds us that we can enjoy the modern world and all the conveniences that God has blessed us with, but also to be on guard and to stay strong against the sin and temptations all around us.

In 2 Corinthians 4:6 (NIV), it says, For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. The Sonfish reminds us that God’s love is always shining on us. The reflection marks on the sunglasses remind us to reflect his love back to others through our actions and words.

The Message of the SonfishTM

Early Christians were persecuted and reportedly used the fish symbol as a secret sign to identify other believers. Today, in the United States, Christians do not need to identify one another in secret ways. The Christian Fish, also called the Jesus Fish and ICTHUS, can be seen in many places. Thousands of Christians openly display the fish on a variety of things including their cars.

The Sonfish symbol and message was developed by a minister in Florida that worked with children and youth through management of after school programs, camps and church recreation. The Sonfish proved to be a useful tool in teaching people of all ages about Jesus Christ and God’s love for everyone no matter his or her race, gender or past failings. The motto that accompanies the Sonfish is “The Son Always ShinesTM”. It is a reminder that Jesus, the Son of God, is always shining his love upon us. He welcomes us to accept his love, follow him and reflect that love to the world. He is always there for you through the good times and the bad. When this life on earth is done we can spend eternity basking in the warmth of the light  of the world, Jesus Christ, the one that always shines!

The Motto, “The Son Always ShinesTM”, and Bible References

The Son: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV

Always: “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 NIV

Shines: For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV

The Symbolism of the SonfishTM and the Colors

Green Sunglasses: The sunglasses represent the modern or contemporary world in which we live. Christians acknowledge the fact that this world is often sinful. The glasses can remind you that Christians are in the world but strive not to be “of the world”, -- not of the sinful world. The color green represents nature and the beautiful world we live in and serves to remind us to take good care of it. The green also represents growth and the Christians need to continue to seek ways to grow spiritually and to help others find Christ and grow in the Lord.

Reflection in Sunglasses: Jesus is called the “light of the world”. That light, His love, is shining on us. Christians strive to reflect that love back to the people of our world and tell others the good news of Jesus Christ.

Yellow Inside the Sonfish: The yellow is on the inside of the Sonfish for an important purpose. It represents the light of Christ that dwells in the hearts of all Christians.

Red Outline of the Sonfish: The red outline represents the blood of Jesus and reminds us of the blood Christ shed for everyone on the cross during his crucifixion.

It is our hope that when you see the Sonfish you will remember these things and feel assurance and happiness knowing that Jesus is always present and will remind you to reflect His love to everyone.

The Two-Color Sonfish Emblem Message:

On some of our products the Sonfish is seen in one-color or two-colors such as the black and chrome car emblems. We offer this line of one-color or two-color products that are better suited to certain items and they also represent a very important message. It too serves to remind us that “The Son Always Shines” and the introductory meaning of the Sonfish explained also applies. Wherever you display the car emblem or any of the one-color or two-color Sonfish items you can be reminded that Jesus is called the light of the world and His love is always shining on us and He is always with you to guide you and give you strength.

The reflection in the sunglasses is there to remind us to reflect, or share His love and forgiveness with those we meet along life's journey. You can be reminded that the sunglasses on the fish represent the contemporary world we live in.  Christians acknowledge the fact that we all live in a modern world on a beautiful planet God provides for us. Mankind often causes our modern world to be filled with sin and temptations but we can be reminded by the Sonfish to strive to stay on a path of righteousness.
